FEDERATION UNIVERSITY AND THEIR $10-MILLION PLAN TO BOOST BALLARAT

 

Federation University has called for $10 million from whichever party wins the May federal election to help bring an extra 3000 university students into Ballarat's CBD. Under a plan to transform the CBD into a Cooperative Education and Skills Centre hosting most face-to-face lessons for students, Federation University vice chancellor Professor Duncan Bentley has called for the new federal government to invest in the city-changing project. Not only would the move make education more accessible, but support CBD retail and hospitality businesses and boost traffic through the city centre.

The initial $10 million is part of a projected $48 million total cost, co-funded through government and business, which would revitalise Federation's SMB and Camp St campuses in the central business district. Read the full story in The Courier here.
