ANDREW FEDOROWICZ & BALANCE ARCHITECTURE WIN BIG AT NATIONAL TIMBER DESIGN AWARDS

Andrew Fedorowicz, the Director of Balance Architecture & Interior Design, has been recognised for the best Standalone Structure by the National Timber Design Awards! The award is for his work designing the newly restored Ballarat Fernery at the Ballarat Botanic Gardens! The original structure (built in 1887) was demolished in the 1920s due to an inability to withstand the Australian climate. This reconstruction utilises Cumaru wood, a material of great texture and warmth, with meticulous care taken to ensure sunlight filters through to the plant life below. This award is a wonderful achievement for both Andrew and his firm. Make sure to head down to the Botanic Gardens to see the truly stunning fernery yourself, and appreciate the true craftsmanship of its construction.
