NEW RULES TO PROTECT WORKERS MENTAL HEALTH

The Allan Labor Government is introducing new regulations to strengthen protections for mental health in the workplace. Recognizing psychosocial hazards—such as bullying, harassment, and exposure to trauma—as equally important as physical hazards, the new rules will require employers to identify and control these risks. In response to key mental health reviews, the regulations are set to be introduced in October and take effect on December 1, with a Compliance Code to guide employers. WorkSafe’s Work Well program continues to support businesses in creating mentally healthy workplaces, as work-related mental injury claims rise.
